What are "multiple offers"?
A common term these days, "multiple offers" means there is more than one offer to purchase a listed property. A seller can choose any offer at any time. In our state, sellers can go a step further and send out a notice to all interested parties that they have received more than one offer. They can go one step further and say that all offers need to be resubmitted with a date in the future by calling for "highest and best offers". It slows the process and allows potential buyers to send in their best offer for consideration. Many people confusingly call this a bid or bidding war, which it is not. It's simply a second chance to send the best offer a buyer can or they can remove themselves from the process if they desire.
